Jurassic World Rebirth Cast, Plot, and Release Date Revealed

Universal Pictures has released the official final trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth. The new trailer gives moviegoers one last glimpse at the latest adventure before it descends into theaters this Fourth of July weekend. Jurassic World Rebirth will release in theaters on July 2, 2025. Directed by Gareth Edwards, Jurassic World Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and returns to the original Jurassic Park research island. Set up as a franchise reboot of sorts, Rebirth follows an elite team assigned to collect genetic material for a life-saving drug…but they won’t be the only predators on this island.

Jurassic World Rebirth is the fourth Jurassic World film and the seventh in the franchise, which was first launched in 1993 by Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. Jurassic World Rebirth is directed by Gareth Edwards, who also directed Godzilla in 2014. The screenplay was written by David Koepp, who wrote the first Jurassic Park film as well as the 1997 sequel, The Lost World.

Jurassic World Rebirth Synopsis

In the official synopsis for the film, it is revealed that the action will take place five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion. As the Earth’s climate shifts away from the ancient Mesozoic conditions that sustained them, the dinosaurs are finding the world around them increasingly hostile. These ancient predators are being driven to live in closed equatorial biospheres that can simulate their natural prehistoric environments. As many dinosaurs remain unaccounted for and unseen, these locations are prime hunting grounds for three of the largest dinosaurs of land, sea, and air. Each of the creatures is known to carry a unique genetic material that may be the key to unlocking a life-saving drug.

Scarlett Johansson stars in Jurassic World Rebirth as a secret operations professional and team leader named Zora Bennett. Zora is sent on a high-stakes mission to infiltrate the equatorial biosphere and retrieve the genetic code. Complicating the job is the presence of an unsuspecting family of vacation boaters who come under attack from one of the dinosaurs. The family is stranded on an uncharted island, which was once a top-secret Jurassic Park island used for research. The trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth suggests that the island’s past may be even more deadly than the dinosaurs living there now.

Jurassic World Rebirth Cast

Jurassic World Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, along with a host of other talented actors. Other cast members include Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs, a mysterious pharmaceutical company representative; Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Henry Loomis; Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked family; Luna Blaise, David Iacano, and Audrina Miranda as the Delgado children; and Bechir Sylvain as a member of the retrieval team. Ed Skrein and Philippine Velge also star in unannounced roles.

Jurassic World Rebirth Final Trailer

The new trailer is mostly a rehash of the original teaser trailer from February of this year. It highlights many of the key scenes that were in the first trailer, though they are recontextualized to highlight key themes and concepts. The Jurassic World Rebirth trailer begins with a tense scene in a high-tech lab where a worker in a hazmat suit gets locked in with a rampaging T Rex. As he frantically pleads for help on his intercom, it is already too late, and the trailer cuts to action. Things will be moving at breakneck speed in Jurassic World Rebirth. Expect an all-action, edge-of-your-seat adventure, but one that still has plenty of teeth and teethy dinosaurs.

The trailer also teases one of the film’s set pieces. We get a glimpse of an attempted pterosaur egg heist that looks to be a Quetzalcoatlus northropi, which one character describes as “a flying carnivore the size of an F-16.” The trailer also reconfirms the return of the raptors but also shows what appears to be a new dinosaur. This is a mosasaur, and based on some dialogue, this island was specifically used to stock it with “the worst of the worst,” meaning the most deadly and unpredictable dinosaurs in the entire Jurassic Park collection.

Jurassic World Rebirth might be billed as a reboot of sorts, but this doesn’t mean it is afraid to delve back into some classic elements of the franchise. The return to the original Jurassic Park research island is specifically played up as a homecoming for fans who have followed the franchise since 1993. The main thing this trailer reveals is a reintroduction of the franchise classic. The return of old favorites mixed with the introduction of new unknowns should make for an interesting and unpredictable thriller. Can this adventure truly reset the franchise, or is it a last gasp dinosaur death march before the collapse of the franchise? The groundwork is there: an elite team with experimental science, hard moral choices, and a bevy of dinosaurs out to kill the team.

There is no shortage of action in the trailer as we get several narrow escapes by the characters, including scenes of the characters running for their lives through thick jungle, hiding in submerged wreckage, and creatively evading prehistoric predators. Johansson seems to be on a grittier and tactical edge than in some of the previous outings. Jurassic World Rebirth looks to be an action extravaganza with lots of tectonic thrills and, of course, plenty of dino-rama.

Jurassic World Rebirth releases in theaters on July 2, 2025.
